Hi! Here is my share from the trip to Coron that Tonji and I took two weeks ago. This was our second birding trip to Palawan this year. A big change for me this time around was that Tonji and I exchanged lenses. I was using the Canon 100-400 5.6 and I was tripod-free! I got so tired from carrying around a tripod during our last Palawan trip that I didn't bring one at all to this trip. So, I was less tired, but had to get used to my new set-up and be very conscious about shutter speed. It was overcast while we were there. It was really great to see such nice birds during that trip! HOODED PITTAf5.6, iso 500, 1/80 CHESTNUT BREASTED MALKOHAf5.6, iso 400, 1/500 BLUE EARED KINGFISHER f6.3, iso 800, 1/60 IMMATURE WHITE VENTED SHAMAthis is the front view of the bird Tonji posted for i.d. f5.6, iso400, 1/500 OLIVE BACKED SUNBIRD AURORA RACEf5.6, iso500, 1/250 PALAWAN FLOWERPECKERf5.6, iso 100, 1/100 Canon 50d, 100-400 5.6, monopod More pictures in our Coron gallery in smugmug tonjiandsylviasbirdlist.smugmug.com/Birds-By-Location/Coron-Palawan/9305897_ypAPB/1/628714964_PHDVs

That's a lot of birds. I dare to say that you must have enjoyed this trip more than that of Puerto Princesa. You have a good shot at all the birds and they are wonderful. Well done Sylvia. Mabuhay.

Thanks guys!! I really, REALLY appreciate all your really wonderful comments! You made my WEEK! Thanks William, Alain, Master Romy, Ely, Ariel, Rey, Adri, Toto and Mark!! Ely - that's right, it was great to have some energy left at the end of the day! I think the pace was also slower because we were going around in an old tricycle. In Sabang, we were in a van. Wiliam - you'll have a great chance of seeing it in Coron!

Wow!! Great take on these birds Sylvia!! all excellently captured. I love the Pitta and the BEKF for their degree of difficulty (low light, low shutter speed, hand held) when capturing them, all came out really awesome!!

Ooh, Neon! Love your comment! Hee hee! Thanks drboymac, Ed and Binot! There are a lot of places that looked really promising that we didn't get to .. like the road coming in from the airport and the road towards the Hot Springs. We saw 2 Pittas standing by that road.
