Prop Jerry! Kumusta! I don't have much time these days sir - but if I can spend some time with the birders there in the future, I'll surely let you know. :-)
Mark, maraming salamat sir!

A deformed upper beak? It looks like a congenital deformity

Hehe.... his father could be a Pied Avocet. Great to see you birding again, Bobby!

Nice catch of an odd looking KF, looks like it has the beak of the crossbills.

This is a proof of Darwin's Theory! The bird's obviosuly been on a steady diet of Nautilus-es.

Wow Bobby!! long time no shoot and post!! welcome back! Agree with ka Mastah, father is an avocet. I guess to acquire such a curved bill would have happened when it was still soft, when it was still a chick and for some reason the bill hardened this way. Only reason I could think of is the nest hole was small and the bill was laid on the walls forcing it to be configured like so.

this could be an abnormality, but this bird managed to hold on despite its bill deformity. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the warm greetings and welcome backs - hehehe. Truth to tell, birding has always been at the top of list, problem is that there are just no more birds to shoot in the usual haunts back here. Anybody seen the SRP lately - dead! Jugan is very slow, but I went there on Sunday and got that "Kingvocet" and noticed the redshanks and rde-necked stints are back; some are still in breeding plumage. Here's a long shot: and I also captured a single Javan Pond Heron: In any case, thanks again guys! :-)

For this bird to have lived this long proves that he has adopted to the use of his deformed bill to the max. Had it happened midway in his life he would not be able to adjust that easily or live this long. The beauty of nature nicely demonstrated to us. Nice shot Bobby. Mabuhay.
