I think birds from the parrot family are just REALLY cute and , I can sort of understand why people like to keep them as pets. They really are cute. BUT, much better than seeing the in a cage, is seeing them in the wild, behaving naturally. Tonji and I saw Guaiaberos during our last two trips to Mt Palay Palay. These shots were taken on June 30. I thought it would fly away since I made so much noise while setting up. But, it was so busy eating the fruit of the tibig (?) tree that it just stayed. It was also my first time to see a bird eating the fruit of that type of tree. 1/125, f5.6, iso800 1/100, f5.6, iso800 Canon 50d + 400 mm 5.6 + monopod

I agree with you Sylvia. They are very cute. If only we can play with them just like we play with dogs it would even be better. Just like people birds also enjoy eating. The second picture depicts it very well. Well done Sylvia. Mabuhay.

Very nice captures, Sylvia. I'm now adding that tree to my mental database on what to look out for.

Wow!! Nice catch Sylvia!! A male guaiabero in the open!! I seldom see these guys in the open like this. They love this fruit they make a clicking sound when eating it, I guess from breaking the seeds? There are plenty of the same kind of tree at Subic. This would be a nice HDV opportunity!! Since there are still several fruits to be had along this trunk. This particular bird will surely feed on this particular set of fruits until it's finished. This bird got a big appetite!! looking at the two photos the bird has almost finished eating the fruit which was as big as its head (on the bottom photo). Time to go to Palay-palay guys..you'll get this species 100% plus a good chance of the white morph coucal as well. Any GPS coordinates of this particular tree?...hehehehe

Beautiful set Sylvia. I really like images that shows the bird in its natural environment. The nice fruits add a lot to the very nice composition.

Thanks a LOT Neon, Tina, William and Rey! Tina, you are as elusive as a Rufous Coucal nowadays! Neon -- no coordinates on the tree, but Tonji can probably describe its location. Across the road from it were trees with a Greater Flameback, some Blackish Cuckoo Shrikes, and a possible Philippine Fairy Bluebird. Across the road from the Guaiabero
