This fellow though a little wary allowed me to get very close to capture lots of images. Wished for a more natural perch but sometimes you've got to get what's out there and not be too picky. Serpent Eagle, Mt. Palay-palay, July 5, 2009 50D + 500mm, F7.1, 1/1250, ISO 400, Spot Metered, Manual Exposure, Handheld

WOW! With this one, the harsh light served a nice purpose! It casted a shadow on the eye and illustrated the deep-set raptor eyes! Very NICE!!!

Thanks a lot Edu and Alain. Yes Alain, this place is situtated near the gate of the Marine Camp. I believe this is the same fellow I also photographed perched in one of the tall trees inside the Camp awhile back. These guys are a regular in the area and are not very hard to catch.

This is the distance that all Bird Photographers would like their subject to be at. Close enough to get the finer details. Agree with you that a natural perch would be ideal, but when you are out there you just make the best of the situation. You just did. Well done, Rey. Mabuhay.

Thanks so much Mastah Romy, Neon and Ely. @neon, I really tried but like any addiction, it's so difficult to give up hahaha. I may have time to go out on a sortie once a month and maybe have more time as the situtation improves where my utmost attention is needed these days.

Wow! Very nice shot, well this is a demonstration of human encroachment to bird's natural habitat. But I'm glad to see in the picture some foliage. The concrete perch is balanced with the greenery of the background

Cool! great shot. It seems serpent eagles are more tolerant to people. I usually see close up shots of them as compared to other raptors.

Thanks a lot for the nice comments guys. ____________________________________________________ Cool! great shot. It seems serpent eagles are more tolerant to people. Maybe because they eat snakes for breakfast.

Like any addiction, to wean yourself, you have to stay away from the addictive material. So, next time you want to get cured, I can safekeep your 500mm far away from you and guarantee complete healing. Excellent shot, BTW.

Anyway I was actually letting go of my long lens to a fellow member but we failed to meet twice and that gave me time to change my mind, that was my biggest mistake.
