Ok, ok.... this needs some explanation. ;D I admit I'm currently crazy about processing in aRGB color space. As I was reviewing my old Palawan captures, looking for unprocessed photos to practice aRGB on, I noticed some shots of a "Black-naped Monarch" whose colors are somewhat off. I almost deleted these photos before, as I already have many good captures of the BNM. The bird's blue shade is dull, much less vivid than what I normally see in the BNM. Thinking that it could just be a white balance issue, I opened one of the shots in DPP. No matter what range of color temperature I set, I just couldn't get the blue of the BNM. Hmmmm....... I stopped and began to have doubts on my new LCD's calibration. Then I noticed one of the captures where the nape of the bird is visible..... OMG, there is no black at the back of the head!!!! I quickly opened my KG, and voila.... it's actually a male BPF, my 261st lifebird. Blue Paradise-Flycatcher ( Terpsiphone cyanescens, male) 20D + 500 f4 L IS + Canon 1.4x TC, f/6.3, 1/50 sec, ISO 400, tripod/gimbal head

Wow!! Glad you didn't delete it Ka Mastah as this is the most detailed Blue Paradise-Flycatcher. This happened to me as well, with the Yellowish White-Eye all the while I thought it was just a mountain white-eye, it sat in my HDD for sometime until I could not bird and reviewed my files.
The blue eye ring would have alerted you that it was something different from the BNM ;D
Congrats on this find that increased your life list ;D

Yey for you! Congratulations! That was a great story and great picture. Makes me now wonder about all those Black Naped Monarchs I saw in Palawan ..

What a beautiful bird. Instead of the eye ring being white as in the Lowland White Eye its color is blue. Great capture and discovery. Well done. Mabuhay.

Thanks for looking, folks! Wow!! Glad you didn't delete it Ka Mastah as this is the most detailed Blue Paradise-Flycatcher. The blue eye ring would have alerted you that it was something different from the BNM ;D Congrats on this find that increased your life list ;D Now, I remember more of the circumstances when this bird was captured. The bird appeared to me like an overgrown BNM, and I was thinking perhaps it was the abundant food in the vicinity of one of Irawan's many streams. It actually stayed around for sometime more, but I stopped shooting after a few record shots because of the unphotogenic environment - too many vines/branches where the bird was. If I only knew the bird's ID then, I would've invested more time to get a clean shot........
