Greetings Romy. This is a jpeg of the raw picture that I took of a bird that seems to be blue. Could you please tell me what I did wrong in taking this picture? Would you also know the name of this bird? Thank you.

The Balicassiao's plumage is black with a metallic sheen that can appear bluish black depending on the lighting. That said, the WB used in your shot appears to be on the cold side and can be warmed up a bit. For this particular shot, I'd base my WB on the colors of the branch and the leaves. If I can get these colors correct, the bird's plumage will automatically follow the right path. Some negative exposure compensation will also help. Here's a link to a recently posted photo of this bird, where the lighting was apt for the dark plumage and WB was easy to fix. birdphotoph.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=3276

I think my photo was overexposed to start with. No need to try to salvage this. I thought I knew how a Balicassiao looks like after seeing the one you posted recently. I did not even recognize it to be so. This picture of mine is terrible. Thank you for trying to make it work out.
