Taken in Unibersidad de la Paz, Ciudad Colon Costa Rica. I had my 100mm Macro USM lens attached to my camera when all of a sudden, this toucan specie appeared just above me. Since there was no time to change my lens, I took this picture with whatever I had in my cam. I still think though that I got a decent shot as the bird was too close to me. Canon 400D+100mm Macro USM f/2.8 at ISO400.

I just saw this picture now. Its a good shot. Considering you were using a 100mm Macro the bird seems to be far maybe 10 yards or more. Can you imagine how big the bird would appear if you could get nearer. Beautiful bird and beautiful picture. Well done Ariel. Mabuhay.

Hi, your Costa Rican birds are beautiful! Please post more! And can you pls give some background info on the birds and the location? Hi Sylvia, The bird is another specie of a toucan. This type of bird is commonly found in low-land forests of Central America and is actually my third Toucan specie that I captured in the wild. The first one I posted here already is the Keel-biiled toucan. The third one which I still haven't posted is the emerald toucanet. I will post it here very soon. Thanks for viewing.

What a bird! What a capture! It looks like its not afraid of man, and it's the one that is intimidating. Congrats!
