Tonji and I were in Sabang, Palawan for 5 days last week for birding + family vacation. We had great weather, nice and sunny. It only rained on our last day.
It was a great experience to bird in Palawan for the first time. It seemed like almost every bird we laid our eyes on was a "new" bird!
Thanks to Tina who told us where to go and also recommended the driver who took us around!
Eastern Reef-Egret
We came across two Reef-Egrets along the beach. This one was so busy catching small fish from the surf that it didn't seem to notice that it was coming closer and closer to us.

Palawan Peacock-Pheasabt
We waited for 3 hours for this bird to show up. It was worth it! We were so excited and happy to see it. It was smaller than I expected .. but so unusually beautiful!

Great Slaty Woodpecker
We were on a paddleboat at the mangrove area when we saw this bird.

Common Flameback
There were two of them on the tree. A few days later, I went hiking with my daughter on the Monkey Trail and we saw 3 woodpeckers.

Sulphur-Bellied Bulbul
The beak is covered by the leaf in this picture .. but I still like this pic because it's a special Bulbul! It has yellow eyes!

Striped Tit-Babbler
We saw these several times during the trip.

Olive-Backed Sunbird aurora race

White Bellied Munia
A new (for me) munia! Yey!
