A male Resplendent Quetzal taken in San Gerardo. It was a bit tough to get this picture as I had to raise the ISO due to bad weather at that time. The bird normally eats wild avocados in the rain forest and is also the national bird of Guatemala. 400D f/6.3 1/500 @iso800.

It is also the national bird of nearby Guatemala. The male normally have long tails and have very shiny feathers. Believe me, they are really beautiful!

I was just browsing the old threads and stumbled on this post and wow! what a beautiful bird! magnificent color and live to its statute as the national bird.
