Excellent my friend. Colorful bird and your shot is showing so much details. I'm sure you'll have a great birding opportunity in Costa Rica. I worked in Panama (Costa Rica neighbor) too 10yrs ago but I was not yet into photography. It's a wonderful place as well for birding with lots of forested areas around the Panama canal.
Thanks for sharing.

What a pretty bird very well captured, Ariel...... excellent first photo post!
Is that a "bill injury" (tip of upper mandible) or is it a natural feature of this species?

Is that a "bill injury" (tip of upper mandible) or is it a natural feature of this species? I was wondering about that notch on the bill, too. I'm quite certain that it is not natural. Anyway, great first post, Ariel. Looking forward to more...and please include shooting details. Thanks.

I do think as well that it is some sort of an injury. To be honest, I didn't notice that until a guy from another forum site asked me the same question. Thanks for viewing and kind remarks. I really appreciate it.
sincerely, ariel

A Toucan, wow great bird, fantastic colors. Keep sharing the birds in your area. I have heard a lot about the great birding in Costa Rica. Is it easy to take bird pics in Costa Rica? What are the best areas? Thanks for sharing this nice pic.

What are the best areas? Thanks for sharing this nice pic. There are a lot of areas to get bird pictures here in Costa Rica. In fact, just around the city you can catch birds like perricos (a small green parrots), blue-green tanagers and the noisy kiskadees that are very common. Best places are in San Gerardo, Manuel Antonio, along the tarcoles river and the Corcovado National park were lots of Scarlet Macaws can be found. Thanks for viewing!
