I had the opportunity to use and test the video capability of the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II. The shot was taken with 5D Mark II mated to a Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 IS L Lens plus a 2x Teleconverter, effectively providing for an 800mm focal length with f/5.6 aperture @iso 3200. More samples to follow. www.vimeo.com/1858950Second installment. www.vimeo.com/1866964

That's very nice Bong. Here's another video from Bong shot on the same day with a very fitting music. It would have been perfect if we can adjust the brightness levels but we're still learning the PP mehodologies for this new field at the moment. It's understandable it was dark and raining at that time. The important thing is that Bong has demonstrated what the camera can do with the bigger lenses. You can see the very fine feather details even when it's dark, the bokeh is really smooth and the noise levels at ISO 3200 is very negligible. Great work Bong. www.vimeo.com/1866964

I've not a single atom of resistance to the 5d2 left in my system after seeing V. Laforet's Reverie..... unless a sub-120K, low mileage 1Ds2 appears in the local market before the 5d2's release. ;D ;D ;D

I too...must resist.
Unlike the majority members here my glass collection (if I can call it that) is so small that all my overtime money will have to be reserved for a longer lens.
Besides I got a lot to learn before I start buying what the big boys use ;D ;D ;D

Wow.... beautiful, Bong! What tripod and head did you use? Thanks Sir Romy. I used the tripod that came with the 400mm lens together with manfrotto gimbal head. The gimbal head fits very well for smooth pan & tilt. We just need to practice using the camera for video. The auto exposure adjustment is cool, the user can also adjust brightness via the thumb wheel. I just hope that the auto focus during movie capture can still be included in the firmware in time for the release in November. Btw, there are rumors that it maight be released by end of October or early November.

I also posted it at DPR but Danny Tuason beat me to it. Love the super OOF BGs of the 5d2 video..... I already have a macro shot in mind - let a bug walk along a grass stalk in and out of the focus plane. ;D

I wonder what interesting footage you can capture at night in parks used as lovers' lane.

BTW Bong, can you grab some stills from the raw HD video footage and post it here unedited? It will be interesting to see how much detail is left after the video compression.
