ORIENTAL MAGPIE ROBIN (Copsychus saularis) Canon 40D 300mm F4 L Male ( 0.003 sec (1/320 ISO 200) Female (0.04 sec (1/25) Aperture: f/18.2 ISO 200 What to do, what to do? Can't get them both clear. It is also so difficult to expose the black color especially when you have two of a kind. (0.04 sec (1/25) f/18.2 ISO 200) I was using a monopod but it is a wobbly monopod. Telyd

Very nice, TeLyds...... Love the colors, detail and pose! ORIENTAL MAGPIE ROBIN (Copsychus saularis) Canon 40D 300mm F4 L What to do, what to do? Can't get them both clear. It is also so difficult to expose the black color especially when you have two of a kind. (0.04 sec (1/25) f/18.2 ISO 200) I was using a monopod but it is a wobbly monopod. Telyd You can either stop down for more DOF (and use higher ISO), or move a bit to your left so both birds are in the same focus plane.

Thanks, Tina and Ka Romy for the encouraging remarks! Ka Mastah, thank you very much for the tip. I failed to check the DOF. And yes the focus plane could have given me equal exposure. I was able to do that a couple of times with the swallows on a line and a pair of white throated KF far apart (I will post later) both chamba, I was surprised myself. Now I will go back and check my settings. Now I see the importance of posting settings. For this one, the other bird was moving and the eye was like draped by the black color. I had so many shots of these birds and doing pp with Mac's Iphoto is so difficult. Maybe another workshopis forthcoming, in ROX perhaps??? telyds

Wowowow TeLyds! These are very nice, especially the first one, with that streak of light.
I agree with Mastah Romy on stopping down for DOF or changing your location to put the birds on the same focus plane. But is that 1/25s @ f/18.2? That'd be too slow for something that is moving.

Great set Telyd. Good job of getting both the male and the female. Don't hezitate to use ISO 400 as the minimum, your 40D can handle that very well.
