Credits to our plain idol for sharing the information on the location. Light rain poured the very moment I decided to go to Makiling (I was in UPLB) yesterday morning, but having recently read stories of worse avian lunacy manifestations from this forum, I figured a little rain wouldn't do harm. Besides, it's UPLB weather -- one minute you're basking in the sun, the next you're seeking shelter from a downpour. So I went. I searched. I waited. In the rain. Luckily I was able to get shots of my target bird. Not great but made my day. Not sure if I was holding an umbrella when I took this shot. Yellow-wattled Bulbul (Pycnonotus urostictus) a Philippine endemic UPLB, 12 May 2009 D40, 70-300 VR, 300mm, ISO 400, 1/200s, f/5.6, Manual Exposure, Available Light, Handheld Also saw Rey's sunbirds and the parus elegans but they left me with nothing but blurries (caused by hands trembling in excitement). More reasons to go back.

Wow ... galeng Mark. Once again, you have proven the argument that "nasa indyan yan". A D40 + Nikkor 300mm (not prime pa ha), nahihiya tuloy yung D300 + Sigma 150-500mm ko

Thanks a lot Rey, TeLyds, Ted, Edu, and Toto. Toto, I was just lucky that it showed up and stayed for a while.

While everyone got shots of this bird in the nest, you got a solo!
Great!

Thank you Sylvia and Ding.
I tried looking for the nest but didn't find it. I think it was also a good thing that it showed up in the open -- although farther than the supposed location of the nest -- as didn't have my tripod (which I would probably have needed badly if I took shots of the bird in the nest).
