There were a LOT of birds in Masantol, Pampanga. So many, that we were ignoring some of them, like the Bee Eaters, Striated Grassbirds! A lot of the waterbirds were very far away though. I enjoyed practicing my BIF on the Whiskered Terns there. They seemed a lot bigger than the ones we're used to and they kept flying back and forth in one part of the road. These are my favorite shots from the Masantol sortie with Tonji, Tina, and Neon! Beautiful set Sylvia. This is my favorite among your favorites. Very nice composition, very good foreground/background and great eye-contact of both birds, seems to observing you.

Those are beautiful birds Sylvia. I understand that the Pheasant-tailed Jacana are hard to find. You have two in one picture. The bee-eater with the dragonfly is rare. I am very happy for you that you have several prize catches. Congratulations.

Thank you Rey, William, Ely and Romy! Such nice comments, thank you so much!! It really was a fun day, I never shot so many pictures in one day. William -- we spent 1 1/2 hours on those birds, and they didn't fly away! Even if we had a crowd of people watching us and making comments. Even when some children in a pedicab tried to shoo them away by clapping their hands, they flew away, then returned!

Excellent timing on the jacana couple Sylvs. Wonderful set of photos. We surely had a fun and TIRING day. That jacana couple was such an upper for me Missed american idol completely and was too tired to watch the 8 pm replay. Hopefully, tomorrow, our sortie will be a short but fruitful one. Crossing my fingers and toes and praying for a nice harvest.

Wooohooo!! Great timing on the jacana Sylvia!! Where was I when you got this shot? I remember I did not took out my eyes on this pair, and for some reason I did not get this shot ..Beautiful!! You really controlled the exposure on this one as it is hard to expose the whites!! Had a blast as well!! The warbler is, I think, a striated grassbird!!

Thank you Eagle Eyes Neon! Thanks so much for spotting that and correcting the id. I do like to be accurate in my id's, especially since i even put them in my smugmug for the whole world to see! Sadly, this means that my pic of a Clamorous from that sortie is one of its back view. But, on the brighter side, I now have a nice pic of a Striated Grassbird! About the Jacana -- of course you were right there too!! Thanks for all the positive comments on the pics guys! Thank you Telyd, Bob, Ed, Tina, and Neon! I really am very, very happy with the Jacana pic!! Tina -- time to wow with the Pitta!! Ha ha!!

How I wish I could have my own set of Masantol pics so I can choose my favorite.. At any rate, I LOVE the zitting cisticola and the bee-eater with a dragonfly. If I took those pics, they would be on my wall, and office desk, and office shelf...

THANK YOU Edu!! I was really surprised to see so many Cisticolas in Pampanga! Lots of Zitting and even more Bright-capped. I don't know if it was the place, the season, or what. That was my first time to photograph and really clearly see a Zitting Cisticola, and that's why it's in my list of faves! The Bee Eater -- Neon and Tina spotted that and practically had to convince me to take a photo! Good thing I always listen to them!!

Tina -- time to wow with the Pitta!! Ha ha!! HahAHahHAhahAHa Sylvs, HOW i WISH I could but even after trying my best to save the photo, both the trogon and the red bellied pitta have to stay inside my hard drive - sila'y nakakahiya! Great things that came out of the trip: 1. I am closer to God now because I never prayed so hard in my entire life while Tonji was driving through that road. 2. We got to see Ixi and spend time with her. 3. We got to spend our afternoon at Ixi's wonderful home. Taking photos of the birds, flowers and frogs. 4. Tonji, you and I got to bond again therefore puro tawanan nanaman 5. Due to the stress from passing that road, I got to sleep early last night and woke up lunch time na. Yippppeeeee 6. I was able to add 2 lifers to my list
