We spent a nice holy week weekend at home in Alabang. I decided to try my hand with BIFs. I wanted to try something challenging so I decided to go for the swallows. BIFs are difficult with the scope so I was eager to see what I could do with the telephoto. I am actually excited to take more of the different Swifts or Swiftlets I see flying around! Nice captures, Tonji.... these guys aren't easy to catch in flight, especially with a non-sky background!

ay I so looooove the first one! The shadow on the grass shows an approximation of the altitude.
These are great BIFs!!!!

These are good BIF photos Tonji, it's difficult to catch these birds in-flight. you're panning skill is superb.

Wow!! These are awesome shots, Tonji!! One of the most difficult BIF to aim at. These birds don't fly in a straight line!!

Thanks Romy, Edu, Rey, TeLyds, Paolo, William, Neon and Tina. I appreciate the comments and the encouragement. I did feel my left arm was getting tired with all the panning. It was a lot of fun though. I always had a hard time figuring out what swallow, swift or swiftlet was flying. Invariably I would not try to identify them cause they were so fast. I could never trust my conclusion with such a fleeting glance. The digital camera is a great tool for capturing and identifying these speedy guys. Its great because I now I can probably have a few more lifers just by photographing the fast moving birds near our house.
