Nice capture, Toto. And that's good timing Edu. Being in the travel industry, plenty of the third dollar bird means good life for me. teLY:D

hello ronbird, edu, telyds, neon, martin. Thanks for the comments guys! Edu, if you might have lots of "dollar birds" out there in your bankyard, I wont hesitate to reassemble my airgun rifle and shoot down thousands of them as I need a new camera body and a long nikkor prime. lols! Sir neon, hope you get to shoot one with your bird macro lens

Toto, Unfortunately all my dollar birds have flown away.. Time to earn new ones! hehe. You should have caged them. You might want to experiment if they can breed in captivitiy. ;D

Nice capture, Toto. Looks like you're enjoying your birding trip there in Bicol. Love the name of the place too (Bitukang Manok)! Edu: Hope your dollar birds will come back too, as your Colasisis did.

Love the name of the place too (Bitukang Manok)! Thanks Mark How i wish I was on a birding trip. Was just sneaking out to shoot birds whenever possible. Bitukang Manok is what Bicolandia refer to as the zigzag road that cuts through the forest/mountains between Daet, Camarines Norte and Cam Sur. This road also leads anyone to Bicol National Park (seem heavily forested still). I think they informally nicknamed the road like this because of the extremely sharp curves that one has to deal with and could probably look like "isaw" from the top Friends tell that this is also Ka Roger's birding paradise. heheh. A lot of unusual birds are perched here and there and some just flying/walking across the road, and I just couldn't resist. So I managed to stop for a couple of minutes in the middle of the forest/zigzag when I saw a couple of large birds just perched on a tree by the road side. As it turned out, there were my dollarbirds I was slowing down and about to do another stop when from out of nowhere three 10-12 year old kids came out from the forest by the road with M14 rilfes. I just drive and went past them and they just wave and smiled. But I never dared to stop again after that hahaha. Had I been alone or without my other half as passenger, I could have been braver and stopped and probably exchange a short conversation with them. Though I thought it must be a stupid thing to do in the middle of Bitukang Manok where stories of ambush and hold ups are common. But I guess that place is really a birding paradise.

Now I see. Those boys carrying M14s look scary indeed. Good thing nothing happened.

please be careful in some parts of Bicol, you never know which are friendly of not so friendly. either side may be in camoflauge. The folks are friendly but may be suspicious of those with bazooka looking photo gears

so true Ron. I actually realized it was a stupid thing to pull over and shoot alone in the middle of Bitukang Manok.
