Just a Chestnut munia on a "chestnut" perch, taken in my temporary neighborhood here in General Santos. They have a nest at near-eye level on something that looks like a palm tree. Should be a great practice before I head off to work in the morning. Chestnut Munia (Lonchura atricapilla) General Santos City, 4 April 2009 D40, 70-300 VR, 300mm, ISO 400, 1/160s, f/7.1, Manual Exposure, Available light, Handheld, near full frame

Thanks Ka Mastah. So far I've only gone around the city area. There are areas with vegetation (grass and trees) within the city. Saw some Blue-tailed Bee Eaters, Pied Trillers, some pigeons, Puple-throated Sunbirds (or maybe a male Olive-backed, not sure), and Bright-capped Cisticolas but I'm still to get a good shot. I'm also taking a look at Lake Sebu (not really in Gen San). I might go there this week, hopefully.

Good luck birding over there Mark. May you have more keepers and lifers!
