Masters, Good day, I just wanted to ask if the group has regular sorties in UP Diliman? Will be coming home this weekend and spending the Holy week in PH, I wanted to visit UP Diliman, but with my 200mm, will i be able to shoot some birds there? Anybody I need to contact before coming there? Thanks....

Doc Mando's lens is a 200mm if I am not mistaken. You can try your lens on the lowland white-eyes that are feasting on the fruits of the tree right at the closed entrance of the Gregorio S. Lim Museum at the back of Vargas Museum. You can also try your lens on the red-keeled flowerpecker now frequenting the fig trees along the north covered walk of the Main Library; you may have to stand on the balustrade to get a closer shot -- ask the guards where I frequent; you may have to also try the fig trees along the south covered walk as the fruits along the northern walk are almost gone and the fruits along the south are just about to ripen. You may also try the scaly-breasted and chestnut munias along the edge of the end of the Hardin ng Rosas (faculty and employees housing project) road; the birds tend to land atop the tall reeds just along the edge of the road and sometimes on the road itself. You can also try the olive-backed sunbird at the garden of Chateau Verde restaurant along the street between the shopping center and the infirmary. With the red-keeled flowerpecker, you have to be early no later than 7:00 am. Finally, you may try your lens on Doc Mando's owl at the Llamas Hall (between 3rd and 4th Pavillions of Palma Hall near Kamia) -- ask the guards. With some luck, you may also try the spotted wook kingfisher and the collared kingfisher that frequent the area around the bahay kubo tambayans on the lot behind the Faculty Center parking lot and also the grounds between the Faculty Center and Vargas Museum. Cheers!
