Hi, I would like to share the photos i took in Candaba swamp. I really had a great time on my first try on wild birds photography, its very challenging for a beginner to take photos of birds in their natural habitat. Also, I would like to thank all you guys i met yesterday, you're all very accomodating. Jun, Nice action shots on the Purple Heron!! Looks like you have the reflexes and natural talent, for bird photography, to have followed the bird with a series of shots when you flushed it. I'm glad to have met you last Saturday. William, Great take even on long range shots with a 300 mm + 1.4x lens!! Cheers, Neon Neon, Thank you very much for the comments, i'm glad to meet you also. See you again.

I can see this thread as turned into the beer and under-spec-ed hut topic.
I never thought I'd be happy to hear people bumping their heads on a hut. That's because I now know that IT WASN'T JUST ME! I was already thinking that I may have lost all psychomotor abilities after hitting that jutting bamboo about 5 times.
But then, maybe we should all blame Nestor for being such a bad influence and force-feeding us all with Red Horse! I really don't want to drink! In fact, I hate alcohol! But, here comes Nestor ramming that aluminum can into my palm. And I, in the spirit of maintaining cordiality in our boisterous group, had to accomodate him and sip a few. Oh, the torture and suffering. Had to drink and missed my self-imposed quitting time of 11AM and left past 12!
Kelan ulit, Nestor?

LOL, that EB was something else, boy did we come a long way to in the middle of nowhere. Wished I could have stayed longer, seems the fun has just started when I left. Anyway, I'm coming back Wednesday, this time I'll try photography for a change . I'm not satisfied with my captures of the GREATER SCAUP and I believe I saw some of the LESSER relatives swimming side by side with the flock Congrats to the first timers, junrapanan and William, nice captures guys.

Jun : Wow you were able to take photos of a lot of birds. It's a good thing you decided to take photographs first otherwise you would have been stuck under that hut with the hilarious men holding their Red Horse beer and wine and would have ended up with only one or 2 photos ;D I really have to go back there to shoot - it was oh so hard to get away from all the funny stuff that was happening under that hut by the pond. Aw come on guys, just admit it - YOU WERE ALL kinda getting Coo-Coo from all the drinking (I AGREE - Nestor is BI (bad influence) but go for it Nestor - HAhhAHahAHahAHa you da best !). I know Wency and I got sunburned because of the heat of the sun but the rest of you drinking bird photographers got sunburned from all the Red Horse being passed around by Nestor We really had a great time with all of you !!!!

Very nice first Candabirds, William! You've been cautioned enough.... proceed capturing birds at your own risk. I went to Candaba for the first time this morning. My lens was so short for the distance of the birds. Here are some of my shots. ;D. Will get a longer glass in the near future Nikon D80, nikon 70-300mm vr lens + kenko 1.4x TC, ISO 400 1/200 at f/10; PP with CS2 Taken very early in the morning at ISO 1000 1/40 at f/8 Nikon D80, nikon 70-300mm vr lens + kenko 1.4x TC Nikon D80, nikon 70-300mm vr lens + kenko 1.4x TC, ISO 400 1/200 at f/10

Omigosh.... I missed the party!??!? With my biofueled tummy (40 octane rum from Negros sugarcane + Coke), I could've shared my Gumaca birding stories with the boys. ;D ;D ;D Jun : Wow you were able to take photos of a lot of birds.
