Ever since I saw Ding's post of this bird (...I believe he shot this at UP), I've always wanted to catch this bird and add him to my tiny collection. However, this bird seem to always taunt me whenever I try to get a picture. The results of my pictures were either too blurred, too dark, too bright....always too SOMETHING that it drove me crazy! Today, went to Candaba with JP. As he was busy thinking about his stalking strategy with his blind, I once again came across the Waterhen..... White-Breasted Waterhen: I'm sure I'll encounter MORE nemesis birds in the future, but getting this one is good enough for now.....

Hey, Martin. Nice to know I spurred an obsession!
Now you know the secret: Fulfilling the obsession doesn't stop it. It only extends it further!
Great very sharp shots. And I must say your WBWH is better fed than mine.

Wonderful shots Martin!! From a hundred encounters of a bird and hundred shots taken there will come a time when you will master your gear. ;D Or just plain lucky to have the bird on the right spot with good lighting and very cooperative. With the characteristic of birds in the Philippines, I always end up with luck!! And if you don't want luck to come in to the picture, you must have tons of patience. Cheers, Neon

Thanks Everybody for your kind comments! Ding, I like the use of the word "obsession." Birding for me is getting more and more like it! And Neon, Luck seems to be working well for me. I'll stick to it for now! Haha!

Nice catch Martin, looks like you are now on stage 3 after being bitten by the "Ocon Bug" "Ocon bug" - medical term is Oconphrenia. An obsessive-compulsive behavioral disease to take very sharp and perfect photographs of the avian species at all cause and cost. ;D
