Hi, Tonji and I just came from Mt Kitanglad with a group from the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines. We saw the Philippine Eagle in the wild!! It was a really fantastic experience just to see the bird, even if the pics came out blurry because the bird was very far away. A lot of us in the group kept saying, "Romy Ocon should come here and take pictures!!". 3.2, 1/200, iso 800 3.5, 1/200, iso 2000 2.8, 1/200, iso 1000 2.8, 1/200, iso 1000 Tonji also made a short video of the parent feeding the hatchling which he uploaded to Vimeo. You can see the hatchling walking around the nest, and you can see the meat that that they are eating! I just couldn't get the to come out here, so here's the link instead: vimeo.com/2909452Swarovski scope + Nikon d90 + 50 mm lens

Wooohooo!! Awesome!!! I think with the distance of the nest from the vantage point only your setup will be able to capture this majestic birds!! But I'm game to lug along my gear to just attempt capturing it. Seeing it would make any birders day!! If only I could bolt out of this jail!!

Thanks Neon and Romy! It was the highlight of my birding life so far! I hope more birders get to see this bird. The bird and the area are both amazingly beautiful! I hope you watched the video too.

That's a pretty decent capture already. Have you tried cropping it to make the bird bigger in the first photo? Wish I can go there too! :-)
