My recent stakeout of a fruiting Balete in LaMesa was not that unproductive after all. Got there before sunrise and fumbled through the grass to set up my spanking new outhouse blind. Had a folding chair inside and my gear, hot coffee, and leftover sweets from the season's parties. Was all set. Then the ants feasted on my legs. Relocated, then took a quick nap. Was woken up by a wave of Pompadour Green pigeons. The tree was practically shaking from all the activity. I could ID the Phil Bulbuls and Phil Pygmy Woodpeckers as well. A pair of Scale-Feathered Malkohas passed too quickly by. Other bird sounds I could hear but not ID. Unfortunately, the sun hid behind the clouds, the birds were mostly atop the canopy, and I was under it. Here are some lackluster shots. Note lots of fruits that make all those birds go crazy. I'll probably go back next weekend, weather cooperating.

Wow Ding!! different bird species feed at a particular time, so it's possible there are still other kinds to be seen. Any chance of going there tomorrow?

Will text you tonight if I can go tomorrow, if OK with you, Neon and Chito. I have some things planned midday tomorrow so, if we're going, we'll have to call it quits by 10AM at the latest. You should also ride with me and we'll limit this sortie to just the three of us since the trail is meant for 4WD only.
