After two weeks visiting my siblings finally got a chance to do some serious birding in one of the bird sanctuaries here. I find myself looking for birds that are also ranging in our islands too. This is a Cattle Egret in its full breeding plumage. There are hundreds of different egrets in an enclosed portion so people will not disturb them in their breeding season though they are just a few meters away from the fence. Most of the captures are full frame because of the birds close proximity. I'm doing my PP'ing in my notebook and DPP only, wish I had CS2,anyway here's one of my best captures. Cattle Egret, Hunter Wetlands Sanctuary EOS 50D, f5.6, 1/2000, ISO640, Manual Exposure Would have been nice if I'm with my birding buddy.

Nice one Rey! Notwithstanding the awkward pose, I like the colors, and subtle sharpness

What a beauty, Rey! It's so perfect it looks like a studio shot of a stuffed bird! Or something like a Renaissance painting.

Thanks a lot guys, really missed our forum. My birding buddy's (Bong) not impressed with the fellows pose, here's another one, a Rock Star pretending to be a bird or is it the other way around.

I agree - the 1st photo looks like it was shot in a studio (perfect shot conditions) W W ! Just wish that the bird chose another pose instead of the awkward pose

Here's the usual pose but I still like the other unusual pose. By the way Idol Tins, if the bird also ranges in the Philippines, shouldn't it be in the other thread?

I agree with Rey, the first shot is my pick, the unusual pose along with the light makes the shot in my opinion

I agree - those are really beautiful shots!! Hmmm. ISO 640 ain't too bad on the EOS 50D - did you apply some noise removal on the photo? Just curios. :-)

WOW another fantastic shot !!! Since it was taken outside the Philippines, it really should fall under the area of Wild Birds from Around the World
