Thanks, idol Romy. question: what should be my settings when taking photos of birds like the black-billed magpie? properly exposing the head would burn the white parts, and vice-versa. thanks again.

No hard and fast exposure rule for me, other than check the histogram, then adjust exposure values till the whites just about become hot. Shooting RAW is a must, and low ISOs (ISO 200 and lower) will allow you to recover more detail in the blacks without too much noise.

Omigosh. The Barcelona birds are Raul's. I did not even look. Ixi is = to Barcelona to me and I saw her name on the heading. Sorry Raul. The credits belong to you. No wonder. Ixi is sooo matipid in posting and I really got so surprised that when she was busy packing yesterday, she had posted these. Not hers pala. That explains.

Please post your gear and settings.

Thanks, Raul, for sharing these wonderful photographs. As Lyds said, it would be nice to know your camera settings for each photograph.

thanks, Tina. i did get to see a lot of water bids too, but failed to get good photos of them. really easier to photograph birds there--not too shy (or is it scared) of people as Pinoy birds are.

Thanks so much for the IDs, Bob. That's about all i got for the few hours of birding there. Got to see the Cormorant and the very common green birds (they looked like parakeets) but the few shots i took of them were all blurred.
