Like many, many people not only in the US but throughout the planet, I'm a big fan of newly elected American president Obama. Congrats to the American people! I dug up a previously unprocessed capture as my humble salute of sorts to Barack Obama. Yes we can..... especially if we carry a long lens!! ;D Black Bittern (Dupetor flavicollis, female) Candaba wetlands, Pampanga, May 1, 2008 40D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/7.1, ISO 800, 1/100 sec, manual exposure in available light, bean bag

That bittern sure displays it's long neck ... imitating the master's long lens. LOL.
We need CHANGE ... change to a longer lens. (I wonder when)

Yerrright Ted. But I've decided to buy a Canon 70-200mm f4 2.8 L and a 40D. I have been scouting for bargains. Birding is not on top of my list-though I am more active watching birds than butterflies the past couple of years, I noticed. I'm almost tempted to get the 300mm but that will require too many steps back to shoot a butterfly. I'd use it for people, too. And since I am a grandmother with a grandson who is very much into sports...and I love taking pics of performing artists... that explains why a 200mm. I already have a 1.4 TC. What's a good 2x TC? How much?

He-he. Without discounting Obama's capabilities, I think his greatest asset in the presidential race was GeorgeWBush.
Excellent choice on the lens, teLyd. I have the 70-200 2.8L, too and love it. It's my favorite for my daughter's soccer matches and for kids' recitals. When I get bold enough, I also use it for street photography.

I agree with the 70-200 f/2.8. Very versatile. For 2x TC, I guess the Canon or Kenko Pro300 DG will be a nice fit. See my comments regarding the election HERE .

Shucks - I was for McCain, mainly for his stand against abortion and gay marriage. Oh well, with a 'Barrack" Bittern on display, all I can say is WOW - again! :-)
Te' Lyds - check your PM. :-)
