A few minutes after the polls closed in California, they announced the next president of the US.
Crazy.
p.s. It's not that they tallied the votes lightning fast, but they don't need the results from Washington, Oregon, and California. Heck, Hawaii's precincts are still open as of this moment!

The other concedes, while the "elected" delivers his speech ... while Hawaii is casting their votes. ;D The loser accepts the result of the election magnanimously, and pledged support for the next president-elect.
The next day, they're talking about forming the cabinet for the transition.
I wish elections are like this in the Phil.
Anyway, the presidential campaign was so easy for Barack. The primaries (the period wherein the party selects it's candidate) were closer, more heated, and bitter to the last minute. I really wish Hillary won though.
McCain tried to distanced himself from GWB ... but he can't, the writings are all over the wall.
There's something I'm not surprised of, but something I never expected, the whole world rejoiced of McCain's (and the Republican's) defeat. The Democrats now have control of the Executive and Legislative (both Senate and House) branches. Scary, but Obama shouldn't encunter any problems executing his policies and promises to the people. The Supreme Court is still full of Republicans, there's still check and balance.

If Obama is as smart and as smooth as he seems to be, those justices will be out of office within a couple of years. He'll find a way. :-)

A few of the only ways to replace a Supreme Court judge is death, incapacitated, or retirement. It's been a while since I studied Phil. Govt., but in the U.S., a SC judge is assigned by the incumbent President, IF there's a spot available. Will be interesting to see how he'll do that.

I wish Huckabee won the Republican primaries. ;D But I know the U.S. will never accept an evangelical pastor to be the president. Water under the bridge..God have mercy on America.
