Just want to share this Stork-billed Kingfisher captured month ago at Japanese Garden Singapore. Not a good bg though Critiques and comments are always welcome. Canon 40D, AV,F/5.6, 1/60, 400mm with 1.5x, Flash FEC -3 with flash extender, tripod Ally

Pretty KF Ally. Don't worry about the BG, it can be PP'd. (don't ask my how, I'm PS challenged, hehehe).
Not sure how far the bird and the BG is, but this is something you might want to try. Since you used a flash, increase the SS (faster) to isolate the BG from the subject. Not sure how much that will affect the exposure, but might worth a try if shooting several frames anyway.
