A two and a half hours drive south of Manila in Tiaong, Quezon, with a verdant coconut plantation as a backdrop and in the background lays Mts. Cristobal and Banahaw, is Villa Escudero located.
It is well known for its friendly staff which brings out the traditional Filipino hospitality and love for country life. Not only can they cater to your every need but if for some reason you are also a birder or nature lover, they can point you to where the regular bird species found in the area can be viewed in its natural habitat, not in cages but flying free and wild.
It is also well known to the birding community for the endemic Indigo Banded Kingfisher (IBKF). This is the only place where you can truly enjoy the colors of this small bird, where you can get so close that even with the naked eye you will be able to appreciate this endemic, nowhere else in the world can you find this truly Pilipino bird.
Since a picture paints a thousand words, here are the photos of some of the birds found in there natural habitat. Blame the irresistible allure of the IBKF for the few photos of other bird species, it’s like a magnet that glues you to your sit just to get another glimpse, I assure you that there are plenty of other birds to appreciate and enjoy.
Please post your photos taken from Villa Escudero in this thread.
