Lovely composition Ted! Superb shot! This bird kinda reminds me of a Little-Ringed Plover!

Thanks guys.
Re: the bird's reflection: I only realized this when I started processing and cropping the image. The bird is small (about 9 or 10 in, small for my 300mm, hehehe), and too far. I tried to get closer, but they (there's a pair) moved immediately. If only I paid more attention, I could have gotten a better reflection and BG. Also, I could have lowered my position, but that's the best view I had, as there's weeds in the foreground I used as a semi-hide.
Re: colors of the water Again, I never paid attention to this when I captured the image. When reviewing the thumbnails, I thought there's something wrong with the image. I remembered then that it's the reflection of the trees and of the sky.
Well, still learning. And the way to do that is to go out and practice! (and hope for some keepers)

Thanks Tins and Ally. Great shot. Looks like it noticed you. It did. Actually they're aware of my presence and keeping their distance whenever I move. Got to learn some stalking skills too.

Lovely shot, Ted. Just curious on the bird's name.... why not killmoose, killbuffalo or even better lovedeer? Yeah Sir Romy, why not Kill Bill, kill fish (it's a plover), etc. From what I read, it's named for the sound of it's call "kill-deer": www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/audio/Killdeer1.htmlDon't ask me, but that's how they hear it. It's funny how people who discovered them name the birds. Some makes sense, and some are just plain funny and politically correct like blackbirds, bluebird, etc.
