a lifer for me during my first Candaba sortie with birdnut JP... these were taken early morning, then later on.... and more interestingly, JP and i was able to witness a fight between two of these hens... ;D check it out here.... www.flickr.com/photos/manny_illana/sets/72157603610288613/and this is the one i like best from the series... better seen in slideshow....

Nice set on these large birds that are becoming rarer, Manny.
I can remember 3 years ago when they were very few in Candaba, now their numbers are up and they're easier to spot. I can't remember a place other than Candaba where they can be seen regularly.

Darn, was too focused on the cormorant and white-headed shoveler, missed out on this one. Could've been a lifer for me, too.
