We had a nice trip today to the mangroves, where my man, Stu, found a photogenic group of superb fairy wrens. These are his pictures. They are fast moving, shy, and uncommon so we were so happy to have found them. ISO 400 f/5.6 shot with 300mm f/4 IS

What an interesting and beautiful bird nicely captured! Are the two little ones immature? Looks like Stu is a natural in this thing... perhaps it is he who needs a 500 f4?

Lovely capture of this interesting bird. Thanks for sharing! Can't to wait to see more of Australia's beauties. Love this picture in particular...such a sweet moment between Mother and Child (I assume that's the Mother.....)

Hello Romy, and hello Martin!
Yes, Wrens are beautiful to watch as a photographer. They are very affectionate, and frequently touch each other, groom one another, and `snuggle' (with a lot of joyful `twittering' involved). I have only known some parrots who share this love of affection.
The two little ones are juveniles. The blue headed one is a male, possibly a `helper' male from last years brood. Young Male wrens will stay to help raise the following year's babies, but only if they are male. (the ladies are too busy doing more important things:)
Thanks for praising Stu's work, too. He'll be so happy to hear it !

Thankyou so much Lydia! I agree- that picture is my favourite too!
Stu is so happy to have some praise. (I will try to drag him away from his regular forum and visit here sometime. After all, he will have to defend himself against my unfounded comments regarding him being high maintenance hehe:)

Very touching shots, Stu. I'm sure you and Bindi will have some marvelous times together taking bird photographs.
