Hey all, Thought I'd post a keeper I snagged a few weeks back at the Mary River National Park - 150km from Darwin. I've been chasing a decent Jabiru BIF shot for quite some time and was finally successful Shot was taken in the middle of the day in harsh light but the light through the wings is what makes this shot imo. Canon 40D, 400 f5.6L, 1/2500, ISO400, f5.6Thanks for looking, William

Wow..... jaw-droppingly excellent first photo post, William!
Love the exposure control and flared primaries. I wonder how it can balance itself in flight, what with the front-heavy configuration.

Thanks Romy It is a spectacular bird in flight, I would consider it a large bird and by the looks it would carry a bit of weight up front. On this occasion it was just hovering overhead for about 20 seconds enough for me to fire off about 20 frames Wow..... jaw-droppingly excellent first photo post, William! Love the exposure control and flared primaries. I wonder how it can balance itself in flight, what with the front-heavy configuration.

Wonderful first post William. What a beautiful unusual bird. First time I've seen even a photo of it. Looking forward to more of your posts. Looks like the head is way too heavy for it's neck ;D

Wow!! what a beauty!! Nicely captured to boot! I really wanted to see this bird in the wild too. I might not be able to shoot and just watch it glide and marvel on how this bird can fly with it's neck out-stretched.
