Buy some red dye in a convenience store, and spray some in the breast area of the Mourning Dove.... it will become an imitation bleeding-heart. Nice shots, Eric!

Nah! Buying a pentel pen and drawing a solid or maybe a dotted collar on its nape is more like it. Buy some red dye in a convenience store, and spray some in the breast area of the Mourning Dove.... it will become an imitation bleeding-heart. Nice shots, Eric!

Eric my man, good job with the powershot. And looks like your backyard is becoming a natural habitat for them. ;D ;D Peace man. Seriously, the house finch over there is more colorful, it's either the diet or the changing of the seasons.

Hello Ted, with the feeder constantly full, my backyard is really becoming a habitat for them. I even have a pair of cardinals nesting 20 ft away from the feeders. Hehehe....

We don't have cardinals in my neck of the woods, would like to see one but I have to go to a higher elevation.
Mourning doves frequent my backyard too. But I haven't shot them with the 300mm f/4 yet. I do have some with my oldie 75-300mm though, not that sharp though.
Re: House Finch. I think I have an idea why I'm not seeing the great colors (aside from the fact I have partial color blindness). Maybe because my feeders are under the tree, unlike yours wherein it's out in the open. Maybe if I can see some with the sun directly illuminating them, then the colors will be vivid enough for me to see.

I placed the feeder in the open to prevent the squirrels from taking over it. These cute furry rodents are really voracious. ;D

Another one I took this morning. A baby Northern Cardinal already showing its crest. This chick fell from its nest. Tried to place it near its nest and then took some pics.
