This species is quite rare here in Southern California and we were lucky to be able to see and take a photograph of it. 40D, 420mm, 1/800, f10, ISO400 handheld While there an Osprey did a fly-by Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) 40D, 420mm, 1/800, f10, ISO400, handheld (forgot to change the setting) ;D

Great set Bob, very sharp images. It's good that you caught the Osprey too.

I like the exposure on the first photo. The highlight are not overblown. The sharp eye of the Osprey is great too!

A couple of superb captures, Bob.... looks like you got the osprey in full speed flight, as the talons are tucked behind neatly for streamlining.

That's one cool BIF of the osprey Bob, especially at 1/800s.
But of course, the tern capture tops it.
What lens by the way?

Oh Bob, he's checking you out! ;D
On one of the hikes we did a while back, a Turkey Vulture was hovering above and seems following us. Maybe it's waiting if one of us will drop dead so it can feast. Hahaha.
