From the backyard. Finally I saw red flecks in the chin, in some rare angles. This could be a female, but since this one looks immature, it could go either way. I'm really excited, hummers are really here. There's a time when there's about half a dozen of them flying around the backyard. Looks like the Black-chinned who used to bully other hummers is now replaced by an Anna's. I better replenish the feeders often, so it won't get spoiled by the heat. By the way, these are tiny birds, and Anna's is one of the biggest. This one's better, but not so happy with the lighting. D300, 300/4 with TC1.4 (420mm), 1/500s, F/9, ISO 200, 190CXPro3 with 393 support, raw capture, cropped and resized, global adjustments

I totally agree with Martin. Congratulations Ted in capturing such a tiny bird in flight. Hummers are truly beautiful birds

Thanks William, Martin, Ray, and Tina for the PS job.
Ray, I followed your advise and looked for a better background. So the result is the third image. But I hate the lighting, I've taken that about mid-afternoon, sun was too harsh. I have to lower the shutter speed so I can expose some shadows. It's soft, but my intent is to show how I improved on the composition. I still have to review the other images, as there's a LOT in the bursts I've taken.

Ted, I love the first image. I think this guy belongs to the same family. But I think he spent most of his time drinking the beer nectar. Look at the size of his belly ;D I don't know how he manages to fly. Nairn waterfalls North of Whistler village:
