October has been a good month for me for exotic birds here in Southern California. (I got three ..so far) Here are some samples: Female Pin-tailed Whydah (Vidua macroura) -a native of Africa 40D, ISO-400, 1/800, f11, 420mm (300 + 1.4X) handheld Male Northern Red Bishop (Eclectus franciscanus) - another African native 40D, ISO-400, 1/400, f7.1, 420mm, handheld Mitred Parakeet (Aratinga mitrata) - a native of Peru and Argentina 40D, ISO-400, 1/500, f8, 420mm, handheld

Interesting species Bob. Marvelous capture of those exotics. I wonder why October, and do they migrate (south/north bound) at all?

It's just that I was able to capture three different exotic species this month. The Whydah and the Bishop from one place (Santa Fe Dam) and the Parakeet close to where I live in South Pasadena. Hopefully, I'll get more. (See my blog either at Multiply or Blogspot - links shown below- for stories on how I got these,)
