He-he. Can't wait till two weekends from now so snuck out of the office and took an extended lunchbreak, drove to La Mesa Reservoir to find this bird. It was closer to the entrance than before. Met it as I was driving on the trail so had to hurriedly assemble my gear. Didn't even have time to change into boots and birding clothes so am now back in my office with muddy shoes. Ahhh, we really are BirdNUTS! Got more but couldn't wait so quickly processed this one for posting now.

Brad Pitt!! ;D (sip-sip) Wooooohhhhhooooo that's a wonderful capture, and first photo for metro manila area! Why did you go there today?!! Why?!! Can't go there this weekend. Wife's birthday and will be out-of-town. So planning Saturday after that, 25th Oct. Was thinking of going alone so I can scout first. But if any of you want to come, I can accomodate three passengers in my rig. We park near the entrance and hike towards the dock. Should be plenty of birds along the way. The hike is less than 2km and very gentle slope (if any) but could be muddy depending on the weather. We could drive three-quarters of the way but where's the fun in that? It's a restricted and protected area so I'm not sure we can do this on a regular basis without some official communications. I suggest we do an exploratory sortie first and see where we can go from there. When are you back from jail, Neon? Any other hitchers?

I wanna go!!! Please Brad Pipit. please. But I can give way to one with better gears kung limited people lang. hu, hu But you need one who can take down notes and who can shoot the likes of Brad Pipits for docu. ;D There are no surveys of butterflies in the area. I volunteered to do that before but instead they set up a butterfly cage in La Mesa Dam - yep the Bantay Kalikasan people caged the butterflies TELYD

Here's something interesting. I had preferred taking frontal shots of this bird. But also took some safety shots on whichever pose the bird was in. Note the light-bluish plumage on the backside of the bird of my safety shots.

Sorry for re-posting these photos, guys. But I just noticed something more on the backside of the bird. There's a bluish-violet wash that is apparent where the sunlight strikes. This means the bird is the bangsi race and is a migrant. Since there are two of them that Mando and I saw this morning, I hope they find the place suitable to breed in and decide to stay.
