Last week, met a whole gang of birders (includding Bio students) at Hardin. Even Desmon was there. The familiar White-Breasted Waterhen never failed to amuse the students. This, I think, is Swinhoe's Snipe. And here, I think I discovered a new Munia Specie! If yet-unnamed, I shall call it Carpio's Candy-Apple Red Munia. I believe it is rare and endemic to tiangges, town fairs, and other festive congregations.

Very unfortunate munia. They use "jobos" to paint these birds which are rather permanent. This bird will only lose this color on his next moult. On the other hand, nice captures you got there Sir Ding.

Love the WB Waterhen shot, Ding!
Not sure about the ID of the snipe, but if it's Swinhoe's, I need to have a shot of that too (haven't got that yet)... ;D

What is a jobo? The Snipe - will give it a try but without ITH shots and especially spreading the tail out - they are incredibly difficult at times.

In my hometown (Malabon) we call it Jobus. That's the cheap powder dye that you dissolve in water. Back in the 60s, tie-dyed shirts were made with Jobus. Here's a rear shot of the suspect Swinhoe's Snipe. Unfortunately, tail feathers not spread out still. What is a jobo? The Snipe - will give it a try but without ITH shots and especially spreading the tail out - they are incredibly difficult at times.
