Here's one for Romy... I took this today with the 50D, 600 f4 + 1.4x. Full Frame - processed - ISO400, f9.0, 1/200, "1344mm" 100% Crop of above image - not processed - ISO400, f9.0, 1/200, "1344mm" Cheers William

Looks like the tiny 50D pixels are already stretching the resolution of the 600 + 1.4x. I expect this because my 500 f4 + 1.4x is sharpest with my 1D2, then 20D and least sharp with the 40D, all at the pixel level.
A 20D + 500 f4 + 2x TC has a roughly equivalent reach via pixel density as a 50D + 500 f4 + 1.4x TC. This is a good thing though..... reach is extended via pixel density (with working AF and no loss of light), rather than with an optical TC. IOW, we have a choice on how to "harvest" the excess resolution of the lens - use a TC, or use smaller pixels.
