Went back to Subic last weekend - Actually wanted to cancel the trip since I really, really wanted to join you guys for the organizing thingie at The Fort but Wency made a reservation deposit before we left our hotel the previous weekend - so no backing out talaga. The weather last weekend was really lousy - as in I was able to take the photos below in a span of 1 to 1.5 hours only and then the rain started pouring the rest of the day, the whole night and morning of Sunday so we decided to just go back to Manila early Sunday morning in the hopes of birding in UP nalang. When we got to the UP area - alasssss, it was also raining hard Saw a lot of hornbills and coucals displaying themselves while it was raining. Of course, I wasn't able to take pictures because I didn't dare bring out my gear while it was pouring. The voracious guava eaters (guaiaberos) are still busy gorging themselves with guavas at the guava tree inside botanic gardens. These are the ONLY photos I was able to take in Subic... Thank you Mark and Bryce djop: In Subic, it is common to see a family of hornbills specially when there are fruiting trees One of those trees is fruiting right now but the fruits are not ripe yet. It's where I got to take photos of a group of hornbills/variety of pigeons/other birds every single morning and late afternoon while we were there. I am so looking forward to that day again.
