haven't done a full birding sortie in the last few months due endless work but somehow managed to capture a few moments during some idle time in between project meetings.... olive-backed sunbird ayala westgrove heights, silang, cavite nikon d200 + nikkor 500/f8 last weekend, got to share some quality time with the family in anvaya but lo and behold, missed out on bringing my birding lenses and was limited to my trusty 80-200/2.8 eurasian tree sparrow anvaya cove, morong, bataan nikon d200 + nikkor 80-200/2.8 50% crop.... off-focus on the bird but somehow i still personally like the pic (since i don't have anything else... hahaha!)

Wow Manny, I wish I can do that too (birding in between work). I don't know where I'll charge my time, bill the customer for it? Is the 500 f/8 a mirror lens?

@neon, true... i still get to see birds when i'm on field @ted, one of the perks of being a land planner-architect. i was having coffee break in one of our sales pavilions and the OBS was simply hanging out with me. yes, the nikkor 500/f8 is a mirror lens, full manual focus.

Cool. I had a chance to grab a mirror lens thru craigslist one time, but I have no idea how good it is. Did my research, and it has mixed reviews. A very specialized lens. The time I'm decided to go for it, it's gone. It's good for birding, provided there's enough light and no distracting bright background, may need a good support, and sharp eyes for manual focus. I can get lucky with ambient light and background, but I don't have the rest yet (good support, sharp eyes, and still developing my long lens techniques).

last weekend, got to share some quality time with the family in anvaya but lo and behold, missed out on bringing my birding lenses and was limited to my trusty 80-200/2.8 Anvaya Cove. I've heard of this place before. It's in Morong , Bataan right? Without giving away too many details of the birding location. Is it a walking distance from Anvaya or do you still have to take a vehicle to get to the spot? TIA btw, I like the first image.

Nice that you were able to go birding Manny. The perfect spot in Anvaya for taking photos of the ETS is when you are at the tower ;D You are even higher than the birds - HehHEhHEheEHe was your ETS shot taken from there ? With God's help, I hope to be able to be in fighting form by next week - crossing my fingers and toes. I miss birding a lot
