I recently acquired this camera, after perusing many reviews and forums. It seems that it does what it was designed to do, and how! I had to tweak the AF settings for my particular style of shooting, and it helps that there are 3 "Custom Setting" positions. All I had to do was register my AF and Exposure settings for "BIF with Sky", "BIF with Terrain", and Stationary Subjects. These come in handy when you have not yet made your manual exposure settings or when the lighting keeps changing. Some samples using the 7DMk2 with the Canon EF-400 F/5.6L workhorse; note that ISO was set to "AUTO" with Maximum Auto ISO set at 6400: Brown Shrike: F/8; ISO 200; 1/800 Handheld; No Flash Brown Shrike by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Whiskered Tern: f/6.3; ISO 250; 1/1250; Handheld; No Flash Tern1 by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Common Sandpiper: f/10; ISO 200; 1/500; Handheld; No Flash Common Sandpiper by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Intermediate Egret: f/6.3; ISO 200; 1/1250 Handheld; No Flash Egret by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Marsh Sandpiper: f/5.6; ISO 200; 1/1250 Handheld; No Flash Marsh Sandpiper by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Any inputs regarding the 7DMk2 are welcome. I am still studying the quirks of this unit :-) Regards all and God bless! Bobby K.

So you were not able to resist the temptation of the 7D2, Bobby? Congrats on the ultimate birder's camera, great initial harvest posted!
The colors, background and detail of the Whiskered Tern is over the top. Love the sharp head and motion blur of the wings of the Common Sandpiper, a species which is very difficult to capture in flight.

Yeah, Ka Romy. My 60D was getting long in the tooth, and though it still takes great photos, the new 7dMk2 just blows it away in every respect. I read your reviews and saw your pics captured with it, and I guess that article did it for me. :-)
Thank you for the kind comments, Ka Mastah!
