Its been raining the past few weeks and I have not been able to do any serious birding. Either I get rained out or the site is flooded. One early morning when I went to the garden I saw some new birds other than the usual ETS. It was a pleasant surprise to see this new common birds in my garden. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, Wimberley WH200 head. Manual exposure in available light. The Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) was eating a fruit that grew in the garden without my planting it. This probably came from the poop of an ETS and therefore this bird has done its part in planting something new on my garden. 1/640 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 800 Distance:8.36 meters 1/200 sec., f/8, ISO 800 On another morning, when I saw this Golden-bellied Flyeater (Gerygone sulphurea) on my garden, I quickly got my camera and set it on my tripod. It was good that he was busy preening and stayed long enough for me to get this picture. 1/320 sec., f/8, ISO 800 Distance:7.76 meters One late afternoon I saw this Pied Fantail (Rhipidura javanica) which may be common elsewhere but it was a welcome sight to see in my garden. 1/320 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600

Great captures, Ely. I think they have always been there but you just ignored them, hehehe. Thank you William. Although that is a probability considering that I go out birding quite often but the truth is every morning before going to work I do take a look and often see just the ETS. It is only recently that I see the YVB and waited for an opportunity to get it close. However the Golden Bellied Flyeater was the first and last time that I saw it. It look like it was an immature one. Probably got lost and made a quick stop to give me a chance to photograph him. LOL The Pied Fantail comes here daily but at a distance. Last Saturday was the first time I had the opportunity to see it full bodied and hence the photos.

It is always nice to take pictures as close as these because it brings out every fine details on the bird's feathers. Well done!
