We had so much fun that day - something we can all cherish through all the years ahead, God willing! The Bar-tailed Godwit above is a record holder - flying 11,000 Km. non-stop in as many days! Now here's another record-holding bird; the one with the longest bill, captured during the sortie using the same equipment: Far-eastern Curlew (Numenius madagascariensis)

We had a blast in the on-site party held at our favorite wetlands here in central Philippines. It was a good way to renew ties, meet fellow birdnuts and share food and drinks over endless birding tales.
We were also joined by our feathered friends some as far as Alaska, while some flew in from China, Korea and Japan. There were also transient visitors from Australia and New Zealand Some were so active and showed us their excitement like this individual:WhimbrelCanon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS @ 600mm, 1/2000Sec, f/5.6, ISO-400, EV+1, Gimbal and Tripod Some guests managed to maintain composure amidst the abundance of succulent or crunchy and mount-watering food like this individual:Chinese Egret:Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS + 2x TC @ 1,200mm, 1/2000Sec, f/11, ISO-400, EV+1/3, Gimbal and Tripod Greater Sand Plover:Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS @ 600mm, 1/2000Sec, f/5.6, ISO-400, EV+1, Gimbal and Tripod While other party attendees can’t help but gorged on what’s available on the Christmas party banquet like this individual:Greater Sand Plover:Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS @ 600mm, 1/2000Sec, f/5.6, ISO-400, EV+1, Gimbal and Tripod Of course the consequence of having too much is obvious in this individual:Greater Sand Plover throwing up:Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS + 2x TC @ 1,200mm, 1/2000Sec, f/11, ISO-400, EV+1/3, Gimbal and Tripod While the rest of the gang was feasting on the food, some probably can’t wait and gulp too much alcoholic drinks like this individual:Chinese egret:Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS @ 600mm, 1/4000Sec, f/5.6, ISO-160, EV+1/3, Gimbal and Tripod Canon 40D + 600mm f/4 IS @ 600mm, 1/3200Sec, f/5.6, ISO-160, EV+2/3, Gimbal and Tripod Merry Christmas from our Islands!!

Thanks Neon and the rest of you guys! We did not announce this publicly because we had an understanding that if the weather wasn't good. we'd just cancel it asap. To invite Manila friends would not have been a good idea 'coz we were so dependent on the weather - and the weather forecast wasn't even good. :-) Merry Christmas!!
