It was both a lifer and a delight to see the Sulphur-billed Nuthatch (Sitta oenochlamys) do their creeping around the branch and trunk ot the tree. It is the only Philippine bird that can do that according to the KGB. It is also endemic to the Philippines. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM. Gitzo GT3530LS Tripod, Wimberley WH200 Head. Manual exposure in available light. The altitude was at 1460 meters. f/8, ISO 800, 1/50 f/8, ISO 800, 1/60 f/8, ISO 800, 1/60

Beautiful capture of this endemic Ely, the last pic, a signature Ely, with the prey in the beak is my fave among the three.

Wow, that is a beauty Ely, and you captured it very well! Congratulations on this find! Thank you JV. I hope you will get a chance to see this bird in action. It literally creeps all over the branch and trunk of the tree looking for something to eat. I like to see them again next time I get a chance to go there.

Great lowlight photography, amazing captures of this colorful enedmic at super slow shutter speeds.... congrats on the lifer, Ely! Thank you Romy. After taking pictures of the Long Tailed Shrike on an open area, I saw the Nuthatchs under the canopy of a tree. Forgot about increasing the ISO and just lowered the speed to get the correct light. Missed a lot of shots because of this mistake as the bird is like in perpetual motion except stopping to eat.

Very nice shots, Ely. I still have to get a photo of this bird. Thank you William. I understand that there is better chance to see it in Baguio. It is a bird worth seeing. It moves like a Michael Jackson for birds when its creeping.
