Very nice captures, Edu! Looks like you're inspired in processing these pics despite the tiredness you felt! I hope the KF in the house doesn't look at you the way the one in the picture does! I just wonder why the Kingfishers are called such even if they are female!

I am happy for you that you were able to capture these birds beautifully. As for being tired, this usually happens after a birding trip. I will be thankful for the good harvest. Well done Edu. Mabuhay.

I just wonder why the Kingfishers are called such even if they are female! Allow me to answer your query Alain. The Kingfishers were created to dive beneath the water and capture their prey because their eyes have has special visual adaptions to enable it to see under water. Both genders are very good at it and that is why the name Kingfisher. Recently I was able to witness this phenomena at the Coastal Lagoon. Mabuhay.

I think I need a lighter tripod (and shorter lightning rod)

Loved that looks from KF! Thank you sir. I think it was just curious as this is the second photo of it in my camera. Mark and I were able to take probably a dozen more, it did not fly away.

Mabuhay. Thank you sir. I am sorry for loosing your call last Saturday, I was driving and was heading for the Bee-eater colony when we talked. Second disappointment was that the bee-eater colony only has nests now. We went there twice to check, no bee-eaters.

I will try to check the temperature on other monitors here at the office When you said they seem darker than my usual pics.. it only means to me that you have seen and remembered my previous posts. This really warms my heart. Thank you.

The kingfisher looks like it must be a juvenile judging from the brown feathers on the crown. This is not mentioned in the KG, which says immatures may have black scaling on the breast or a rufous wash there. Has anyone photographed these last two features? Are they correct?
