Great shots there TOnji. Was this during the Animo triathlon event the other day?

Those are all terrific shots! Birders will have no problem shooting sports with the gear they have, that's for sure! :-)

Thanks guys glad you liked the pics. Yup Pao it was the Animo tri. I was just a sports shooter for a day. Fun but not as challenging as bird photography. I think that photographing birds is really quite difficult. Especially in the Phils where they are always flying away or hiding. Shooting this race was super easy in comparison to a regular birding sortie. I did not even need a tripod. Bird photography is pretty extreme. Not only in difficulty but it also maxes out the performance of our gear. I don't think my 5DMk2 was having a difficult time taking these guys. And its not the fastest camera out there. I understand why its tempting to get 1Dmk4's and Nikon D3 bodies for birding. But for taking triathlon I think lots of camera bodies can handle the action.

You're right, Tonji... bird photography is really difficult. Btw, I also tried using my birding gear in portraiture. I just love the bokeh effect that it produces! And when I saw your pics, I would really try to shoot sports too! I like the first pic and the last two!
