To my acutely color-blind eyes, some bird captures look better in monochrome than in color. ;D ;D ;D ______________________________ EGRETS AND TERNS AT MANILA BAY. It was an overcast morning at Manila Bay, when suddenly a small break in the clouds appeared east and the early morning sun got through that small opening. It was as if a giant spotlight lit these egrets and terns foraging near the shore, while the rest of the bay including the Bataan mountains in the distance remained under the shadow of the clouds. The original mixed lighting of the scene produced a very warm, golden light for the birds while the rest was bathed in cool light. I solved the complex white balance challenge by converting the image to monochrome. Manila Bay, January 3, 2006, 20D + Sigmonster + 475B/3421 support, 800 mm, f/11, ISO 200, 1/500 sec, converted to monochrome from RAW using DPP, cropped to panoramic 2:1 and tweaked a bit in PS.

I love this, Ka Mastah. Now we have a new medium for creativity.
The birds must have been very far.

I'd like to join the B/W section. But this one is a repost from an old thread. This is the UPD celebrity bird few months ago. D300, Sigma 150-500 @ 400mm, f7.1, 1/100sec, ISO-800, Handheld. Shot RAW/Mono on Site @ UPD.
