today was my "test drive" of my floating blind which i had made by our carpenter. before taking it out on the water i simulated and tested the blind in my swimming pool, making sure it was stable in all sorts of conditions. i used some ballast to simulate the weight of my gear and even that of a 500 f4 which hopefully i will get to own someday. here's some pics from todays trip

its a good thing i wore a full wet suit because a leech the size of a small turtle was bothering me the whole time. i bought a "lock and lock" compartment and attached it inside the blind so that i can store my gear there without getting wet before taking pics. also wore a life vest just in case something happens and i'm not able to float on my own. the closest i got to the ducks was approximately 60 meters. sad to say though, i saw a guy setting up a trap for the ducks. he didn't notice me inside the blind. i was able to take pics of him

HUWAWWWWWWWWW JP that's some kinda something - The blind works !!! They don't look like they even have an inkling that you were around taking those beautiful photos. Close encounters of the duck kind !!!! I'm so haaappyyyyyyy for you P.S. You might have to make the photo into a dial-up user friendly size though - kawawa naman sila kasi this will take a long time to load.

Excellent low angles on these, only possible with a blind (or a 1600 mm lens), JP!
I'd like to test that blind in Candaba... ;D

as long as there is a body of water that is a "controlled environment", no winds, waves etc we can use the floating blind. i can't wait to use it in other places

Ding, I can't modify your post because I don't moderate this particular forum. However, it is never a good idea, in view of the myriad of web-crawlers harvesting personal information, to place a non-camouflaged e-mail - better, moniker(at)whateveritis.com! Otherwise, send your e-mail to the person desired by PM.

Thanks, Romy & Steve. Now I know why I get a gazillion spam. And here I was already feeling insecure with all those virility improvement offers. It is a bit sad that we cannot be too trusting these days. Nice catch, Steve... edited Ding's email accordingly... Romy Ding, I can't modify your post because I don't moderate this particular forum.
