Nice photo of the Stork-billed Kingfisher. With 800mm + 2X TC, are these pictures cropped? I can imagine a difficult birding in PH with my bare 400mm lens, which is enough in most cases here in Costa Rica

Beautiful pictures Ely! The numbers of pictures you took from here are really amazing! And to think that this is only from Villa Lapas. I think you haven't posted the pictures from two more places and I'll be looking forward for more! Pura Vida!

Went out with my family for an overnight trip last week to Quepos, Manuel Antonio. We went to a resort that is not known for bird watching. But nevertheless, I brought my camera and took a stroll within the resort's vicinity and I got this lifer as a reward 7D+400mm f/5.6L, ISO 800, 1/250s 7D+400mm f/5.6L, ISO 800, 1/200s

Hornbills, like toucans, are the ones I like. Same goes with the PH Trogon. Well done!

Nice toucan photos. I have to agree that Costa Rica is a birder's paradise. I hope that I too can visit Costa Rica for some serious birding. Thank you Eric. Best times to visit is between December or January-March.

That is what makes Costa Rica a birders paradise. Is this the same place that you brought me to? Very nice, it is as if the birds have a smile on their face. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay. Thanks Ely! I went to Arenal Observatory Lodge last weekend but the place looks empty as there was not much people around. Even birds weren't around . Perhaps because it is the height of the rainy season. These pictures were taken along the roadside somewhere in San Ramon, about 45mins from Arenal Observatory Lodge.

I took a chance to go out in spite of the bad weather outside hoping to get another chance to photograph a Keel-billed Toucan. I wasn't disappointed and got two toucan species by the roadside going to my intended destination. EOS7D, 400mm f/5.6L lens, 1/1600s, ISO 400 EOS7D, 400mm f/5.6L lens, 1/1600s, ISO 400 And here's the Chesnut Mandibled Toucan ISO 800, 1/1000s
